Lead Generation
CPL to CAC Calculator
A low CPL means nothing if the leads don't close. Enter your full funnel to find where the money is actually disappearing.
Most businesses track CPL from their ads dashboard and assume it reflects acquisition efficiency. It doesn't. CPL measures the cost to generate a lead. CAC measures the cost to generate a customer. The gap between those two numbers is where most lead-gen budgets quietly die. This calculator maps the full funnel — lead, qualification, booking, show-up, close — and tells you exactly which stage is bleeding the most.

Worked Example
A SaaS company spending ₹1,50,000/month on Meta ads, generating 300 leads. Qualification rate 40%, booking rate 60%, show-up rate 70%, close rate 25%. Average deal value ₹18,000.
CPL = ₹1,50,000 ÷ 300 = ₹500
Qualified leads = 300 × 40% = 120
Cost per qualified lead = ₹1,50,000 ÷ 120 = ₹1,250
Calls booked = 120 × 60% = 72
Calls attended = 72 × 70% = 50.4
Customers = 50.4 × 25% = 12.6
CAC = ₹1,50,000 ÷ 12.6 = ₹11,905
Revenue = 12.6 × ₹18,000 = ₹2,26,800
Funnel ROAS = ₹2,26,800 ÷ ₹1,50,000 = 1.51x
₹500 CPL looks efficient. But the funnel turns those leads into an expected 12.6 customers and a CAC of ₹11,905 — nearly 24x the CPL. The weakest stage here is the close rate at 25%. Improving it to 35% would drop CAC to roughly ₹8,500 without spending a rupee more on ads.
Common Questions
What is the difference between CPL and CAC?
CPL (cost per lead) is your ad spend divided by total leads. CAC (customer acquisition cost) is your ad spend divided by customers actually acquired. The difference is your funnel efficiency — every drop-off between lead and customer inflates your CAC beyond your CPL. A business with a ₹500 CPL and poor funnel conversion can easily end up with a ₹15,000 CAC.
Which funnel stage should I fix first?
Fix the stage with the biggest volume drop. If you are losing 70% of leads at qualification, the issue is targeting — your ads are reaching the wrong people. If qualification is fine but show-up rate is low, the problem is follow-up and confirmation speed. If show-up is good but close rate is weak, that is a sales process or offer problem. The calculator identifies your weakest stage automatically.
Does this work for businesses without a sales call in the funnel?
Yes. If your funnel goes straight from lead to customer without a call, enter 100% for booking rate, show-up rate, and use close rate as your lead-to-customer conversion rate. The calculator will still give you an accurate CAC and show you what your CPL-to-CAC multiplier is.
What is a healthy CAC for a B2B or SaaS business?
CAC health depends on LTV. The benchmark is LTV:CAC above 3:1 — meaning for every rupee spent acquiring a customer, you generate at least 3 rupees in lifetime value. A high CAC is not necessarily a problem if the LTV is proportionally high. A low CAC with low LTV is the real trap. Use this calculator alongside the LTV:CAC calculator for the full picture.
